The original soft-font project was done under a contract for IBM in the mid 1970s. It was incorporated into the windowing system we built for the Architecture Machine Group's electronic book and newspaper projects. As part of a reengineering effort in the early 1980s, working with Toshiba, we make a kanji set (approximately 4000 characters).
